For ski lovers, the ski season this year might be delayed. While the first ski area opened as early as Oct. 16 last year, this year might mark the latest start of the season compared to the past five years. This is because the conditions of the Colorado mountains are likely to remain warm and dry until the end of October, according to the Pinpoint Weather Team.

In the last five years, the opening dates for ski resorts fall between Oct. 11 and Oct. 28. In 2019, Arapahoe Basin opened on Oct. 11. In 2020, the ski resort, Wolf Creek, opened rather late, on Oct. 28. The good news is that three ski resorts, including Arapahoe Basin, Copper Mountain, and Keystone Resort, have already started making snows since the beginning of October.
