Digital Advertising Supports Our Small Businesses | Opinion

The explosion of tech jobs in Colorado has brought a new economic engine to our economy, with internet jobs growing 253% between 2012 and 2020. It’s been exciting to be a part of thistransformation as a small business owner in the digital space. And as an entrepreneur in my home state, I’ve enjoyed helping other small businesses use new technology solutions to find new customers, create a brand and advertise a product.

Because this industry is so important to my family, I flew to Washington D.C. to meet with Senator Bennet as well other members of Congress and their staff on how we can thoughtfully approach privacypolicy and other legislation that impacts digital advertising.

As I tell my clients, smart small businesses recognize that digital advertising has the best rate of return compared to other forms of advertising. Digital advertising has leveled the playing field for local small businesses to compete with large multinational firms. Because of those ads, my clients are able to tell their unique story and share products that their customers would never be able to find without them.

I have worked closely with many in the Colorado political field, and I am grateful that our policymakers recognize the important impact of digital advertising on our local economy. Let’s continue to keep that at the forefront as we shape future policies for our digital landscape.
